The Setup

Sunday said

Something unbelievable is extremely surprising. It seems so unlikely that you cannot believe it. Giants Exist To: Intimidate: This means making someone feel afraid. Control: This means having power over what happens or what someone does. Diminish: This means making something smaller or less important. Here, a giant is not measured by how tall it is. A giant is anything in your life that has become bigger than your belief in what God can do.

Giants do more than intimidate by making you afraid; they also control and diminish. A giant can be anything that has become bigger than your belief in what God can do.

Understand It

  • unbelievable — Extremely surprising and hard to believe because it seems unlikely.
  • bigger — Here, bigger means larger in your life than your belief in what God can do.
  • belief — Trust that God can do what He says.

Think It

What feels bigger in your life than your belief in what God can do?

Live It

Write down what has become bigger than your belief in what God can do. Describe how it can intimidate you. Describe how it can control you. Describe how it can diminish you.

📖 1 Samuel 17:26-27 Worship means honoring God. It prepares you to show courage in your faith—your trust in God. David has no official title and no power to be in charge. But he has conviction—a belief he holds firmly.

David’s opportunistic faith shows conviction before he has any authority to lead. His question treats Goliath’s challenge as an offense against the living God. Worship prepares your faith for courage by honoring this God whom David takes seriously.

📖 1 Samuel 17:45-47 David talks about the battle in a spiritual way. He points to the Lord, saying that the battle belongs to the Lord. David has no sword, but he uses one to kill Goliath. “THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’S” Five smooth stones made the unbelievable believable.
