Terms of Service

SlingStone helps churches transform adult sermon notes into age-appropriate sermon companions for students transitioning from children's ministry into adult worship. Churches enter sermon content; SlingStone generates student-facing versions that church administrators review, edit, and publish.

Church accounts are created by an administrator who provides accurate church and contact information. Each church receives a unique church code used by students to access that church's published companions.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and church code secure, and for the activity that happens under your account.

Churches retain full ownership of the sermon notes, outlines, and companions they create on SlingStone. We claim no ownership over your sermon content. You grant SlingStone only the limited rights needed to operate the service — storing your content, generating companion versions, and displaying published companions to your students.

SlingStone uses AI to generate age-appropriate companions from the pastor's own notes. The AI follows strict rules: it preserves the pastor's meaning, never rewrites Scripture, and uses only Christian principles. Even so, AI output is provided "as is" and "as available" and may contain errors, omissions, inaccuracies, or wording that does not reflect your church's theology, denomination, or teaching standards.

SlingStone is a software tool, not a source of pastoral, theological, legal, or denominational advice. It does not replace the judgment of your pastors, teachers, or church leadership. Every companion must be reviewed, edited if needed, and expressly approved by an authorized church administrator before it is published or shared with students.

The church is solely responsible for any companion it publishes. By publishing a companion, the church represents that the content has been reviewed and is appropriate for its students and community.

SlingStone improves the quality of its companions by learning from how companions are written and edited inside the service. This is limited and specific:

• We study patterns — structure, reading level, formatting, and the edits administrators make — to refine SlingStone's writing rules.
• Your church's sermon content is never shown to another church, and never appears in another church's companions.
• Sermon content is never used to train a general-purpose or third-party AI model. Our AI provider does not train its models on SlingStone's inputs or outputs.
• A sermon is only kept as an internal quality example after explicit approval by SlingStone, and it is used solely to guide SlingStone's own formatting and faithfulness standards.

You keep ownership of your sermon content throughout. Learning is on by default for new churches, and you can turn it off at any time in Account settings. You may also ask us to remove your content by contacting us at the address below.

You agree not to:

• Use SlingStone for anything unlawful or harmful.
• Publish content you do not have the right to use.
• Attempt to access another church's account or data.
• Interfere with or disrupt the service.

Paid features are billed through our payment provider. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for details.

We work hard to keep SlingStone available and reliable, but the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We may update, improve, or discontinue features over time.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SlingStone and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the service — including, without limitation, any damages resulting from reliance on AI-generated companions, errors or omissions in generated content, publishing a companion without review, or a companion's effect on students, congregants, or third parties.

Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim. This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise).

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SlingStone and its operators from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:

• Any companion, sermon content, or other material you publish.
• Your failure to review, edit, or approve an AI-generated companion before publishing it.
• Any claim that published content infringes a third party's rights, misstates doctrine, or causes harm to a student or congregant.

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

When a subscription ends or an account is closed, SlingStone keeps the church's sermons and companions for 12 months in a suspended state. During that window the church can reactivate its account and pick up right where it left off — for example, a church that cancels and returns six months later will still find its content intact. After 12 months, the church's sermon data is permanently deleted, unless we are legally required to keep it longer.

Churches may request an export of their data, or request earlier deletion, at any time by emailing slingstoneapp@gmail.com.

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify account holders by email or in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
