Privacy Policy

Last updated August 30, 2026

SlingStone is built for churches and the students they serve. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it — in plain language.

What we collect

From church administrators, we collect:

  • Account details: name, email address, and password.
  • Church details: church name, city and state, and contact information provided at signup.
  • Sermon content: titles, dates, speakers, Scripture references, notes, and the companions created from them.

Students access companions with a church code. Students are not required to create accounts, and we do not collect student names, emails, or other personal information. Notes a student writes inside a companion stay on that student's own device.

How we use it

  • To operate the service and generate sermon companions.
  • To send essential account emails (confirmations, password resets).
  • To respond to support requests.
  • To improve SlingStone's quality and reliability.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use sermon content for advertising.

Sermon content and AI

Sermon notes are processed by AI solely to generate the age-appropriate companions your church requests. Processing runs through Lovable AI, our AI provider, which does not train its models on SlingStone's inputs or outputs. Sermon content is never used to train general-purpose AI models, and one church's content is never shared with, or shown to, another church.

SlingStone does learn how to write better companions over time. That learning is based on patterns — structure, reading level, formatting, and the edits administrators make — used to refine SlingStone's own writing rules. A sermon is only retained as an internal quality example after explicit approval, and it is used only to guide SlingStone's formatting and faithfulness standards.

Your church keeps ownership of its sermon content. Learning is on by default, and your church can turn it off at any time in Account settings — no email required. You may also ask us to delete your content at any time by emailing slingstoneapp@gmail.com.

Children's privacy

SlingStone companions are read by students, including minors, but students use the service anonymously through a church code. We knowingly collect no personal information from students. Church accounts are intended for adult church administrators only.

How we protect data

Data is stored with industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and row-level access controls that keep each church's data separate. Access to production data is limited to what is needed to operate the service.

Data retention and deletion

We keep church data while the account is active. When a subscription ends or an account is closed, the church's sermons and companions are kept for 12 months in a suspended state so the church can reactivate and recover its content. After that 12-month window, the data is permanently deleted, unless we are legally required to keep it longer.

You may request an export of your church's data, or request earlier deletion, at any time by emailing slingstoneapp@gmail.com.

Service providers

SlingStone runs on trusted infrastructure providers for hosting, database, email delivery, and payment processing. These providers process data only as needed to deliver their services to us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced by email or in the app, and the "last updated" date above will always reflect the current version.
